Squad Game Rules of Engagement

From FreeAllegiance Wiki

The standard rules of engagement listed below are a guideline for squads rather than a set of hard and fast rules.

Squads are free to alter the following rules for any given game, if mutual agreement on the changes is reached by the Squad Leaders (or Assistant Squad Leaders) before the commencement of the game.

Definition

An Allegiance Squad Game is a 100% Conquest game of Allegiance with Development on where each team's members all wear the same squad tag in their callsigns or are logged in with the callsign listed on their squad's ASGS roster. The game must have at least 10 squad members per side for at least 50% of the game.

Game Setup

Before the game begins, the two teams will mutually decide which team will choose the map, and which team will choose the settings. The team choosing settings cannot change the Conquest, development, or 100% win condition settings. Any addition of other gametypes or win conditions such as Artifacts, Deathmatch, Flags, etc must be agreed upon by all teams before launch, and are considered "separate" from the settings choice. All teams must agree on these additional settings. In addition, the team that chooses settings must get approval from all other squads in the game before choosing Outrageous or BigGame money and resource settings.

The following are to be considered "default" settings:

  • Team Lives - Unlimited
  • Map Connectivity - high
  • Max Team Imbalance - 1*
  • Stats Count - unchecked
  • Allow Defections - off
  • Allow Joiners - on
  • Eject Pods - on
  • Allow Friendly Fire - off
  • Invulnerable Stations - off
  • Development - on
  • Reveal Map - off
  • Allow Supremacy - on
  • Allow Tactical - on
  • Allow Expansion - on
  • Allow Shipyard - on
  • Initial miners - 1
  • Maximum miners = 4
  • Game password - standard password

* might be raised to 2 depending on the number of cadets

The team that chooses the map may choose any of the standard maps, or a custom map. If a custom map is chosen, the opposing team can veto the map and request another if they wish. Standard maps cannot be vetoed. If a custom map is vetoed, the team who chose the map must choose another standard or custom map, and the process repeats until a custom map is accepted by the opponent, or a standard map is chosen.

The standard maps are as follows:

  • HiHigher
  • Star
  • Grid
  • InsideOut
  • LimitedDiamond
  • EastWest

As a courtesy, the player who is the Game Commander should confirm that the proper Settings, Map, and Factions are chosen with their opponent(s). Changing a setting/map/faction and then launching without confirming it with the opposing team(s) is unsportsmanlike, and is frowned upon.

Team Members

Only squad members who are wearing squad tags or listed on the team's ASGS roster are allowed on their team. It is the responsibility of the team's commander to enforce this rule and accept only squad members wearing their squad tags or those who are listed on the squad's ASGS roster. The only exception to this rule is players with @CDT-# tags if they are observing or playing with the squad.

Observers

Players with @CDT and @CDT-A tags may request to join and observe a team before the game starts, providing all squads present do not object. The observing player is required to stay in base to prevent giving their team any advantage such as scan range, pod pickups, etc. They are also forbidden to relay tactical information to their teammates. The observing player is not a squad member, so does not count towards the 10 player minimum. If the observer is accepted, it is recommended to change the game's imbalance setting to allow the cadet to remain on the team without affecting balance. For this reason, it is discouraged for cadets to join after the game has begun, however is able if all teams agree.

In addition, the cadet observer may launch and play on their team provided all teams approve. Unless otherwise stated/requested, it is assumed that the cadet is observing and is not interacting with their team whatsoever.

Ingame Etiquette

Although everyone is free to act how they wish, just remember that these squad games are for fun, and are played against other people just like you. Be sportsmanlike and courteous to both your opponents and your teammates.

Post-Game

If the game had any bearing on the outcome of a tournament or event, the results should be screencaptured and forwarded to the coordinator for recording.
