The frigate is a super-sized bomber, its main function being to destroy enemy stations. Although far stronger than a bomber, they can not teleport. Combined with a capital ship's high signature and an enemy team often spots it and has time to mount an effective defense.
Due to their low level in the shipyard tech tree they are sometimes used in rush strategies.
