Phases of the game - Game Opening

Game Opening
This phase starts at the launch of the game and ends about the same time that the map is fully explored and the first set of cons have planted. During the game opening the most important thing is to fully explore the map so your commander can begin forming plans on where he will place your techbase and second set of cons.
- Find every tech rock, every helium rock, and every aleph.
- Set up your first wave of probes to detect enemy miners and enemy cons.
- If you have support, kill the enemy opening con or start disrupting the enemy economy. Small problems you cause now will ripple into major problems later. Losing one miner load early can mean setting back a team's economy by 10 minutes or more.
- Defend your initial cons.
- As soon as the enemy reaches your miner sectors, start defending your own miners.
- Pick up tech and bring it home.
The second week of Cadet I covers each of these topics in detail.
