The core file is a small database, which contains all weapon, ship and station attributes. The core files use the file extension IGC.
Each different Core can be thought of as a 'gameplay mod' and make Allegiance play differently - ships and strategies which are very powerful on one Core may be completely ineffective on another.
There are several core files which are currently hosted on various servers and can be played. The most popular is Dark Nebulae (DN).
Cores
A small overview about the most important cores and the core they based on:
- Microsoft Allegiance 1.24 (AZ core)
- Microsoft Allegiance 1.25 (latest MS release)
