Some information within this article is either obsolete, hasn't been updated in a long time, incomplete, or otherwise invalid.

In addition to your primary callsign players are allowed two other callsigns (for a total of three). These secondary accounts are known as hiders. Once you log in from the same machine with a second callsign ASGS will 'link' the callsigns permanently. This means that both callsigns will share the same stats, rank, and other information.

You are only allowed three callsigns and attempting to log in with a fourth callsign will either fail ("Account is not active") or seem to work (Allegiance will launch with no error message) as you really are logged in with your primary callsign instead.

Warning! Don't play with your account on somebody else's computer

Playing on somebody else's computer will have their account linked to yours!

Twice a year everyone's callsign limit is reset, allowing you to link new hiders to your primary callsign. Your old callsigns are not deleted, and remain available for reuse should you decide to return to them.

How to create a new hider

  1. Go to the create new account page on the ASGS site.
  2. Create a new account, and use the email link to activate it.
  3. Launch Allegiance normally and log in with the new account.
  4. The system will log you in and link the two accounts at the same time.

What's the purpose of Hiders?

Warning! Hiders are not completely secure from being worked out.

Hiders can be figured out other players.

There are a variety of reasons. Some people like to play casually without getting bothered by other players because of who they are (for instance, admins). Some people like to goof off without their actions tarring the reputation of their main callsign. Some people want to create an 'alter-ego' and build up a new reputation under that nick. Other people have to create an alter-ego because they screwed up their main reputation so badly.

The most important reason for a second or third callsign, however, is to rejoin a team after being ejected by the team commander. Team-boots are enforced by callsign, so once ejected from a team you will find yourself locked out of the game until it completes. You can work around this by logging out of Allegiance entirely and signing into ASGS with another callsign, allowing you to rejoin the game.
