The Allegiance_Flight_School is designed to give a brand new player a basic grasp of our community and the game. It will provide you with community support and knowledge as you take your first steps into the world of Allegiance. The Training Materials will provide you with the basic knowledge to install the game, join a game and be able to contribute to your team effectively.

Our goal is to make sure you start off on the right footing so you end up staying with us. The learning curve is so steep almost half the players leave before they understand the game at all.

How does this work?

The Allegiance Flight School has a private forum within our main community forums, www.freeallegiance.org, where you can ask questions about the material in this course and get almost immediate answers. The volunteer staff is from around the globe and so no matter the time, you will find your questions answered pretty damn fast! Similarly, there are no scheduled "class times" - the learning is mostly self study, although Training excersises are planned at intervals in the course.

Conduct requirements

Not much is required really. A willingness to learn, a desire to do a lot of reading and an humble attitude towards the community and the game.

Important! Conduct requirements for the Allegiance Flight School You will not command during this course. We don't care that you "rock" at <insert-popular-RTS>. That you may "Have commanded a few games with some other newbies" is totally irrelevant. Commanding is over your head at this point. You will leave the newbie servers and play on the main games once you have the basics down pat. By applying to enter this program you are stating you wish to learn how the game is really played by the majority of the community. This is NOT a DM game. Repeat: This is NOT "Quake in space". Failure to comply may result in your removal from the program.

Application requirements

Again, the requirements are very basic for such a course:

Important! Application requirements for the Allegiance Flight School You must have an active forum account on the Free Allegiance.org forums. Create a forum account if you haven't already and activate it. You must have an active game account created in the Allegiance Security system (ASGS). Create an ASGS account if you haven't already and activate it. Those two accounts you need to have must use the same name or be as close as possible. You can create a new forum account or use one of the three ASGS callsigns available to you. What this means is simple: when you fill out the application form given below the two names for the two different accounts must match or be easily recognizable as the same player. If those nicks are not active or valid when the course coordinator goes to permit you access into the forum and assign a Cadet tag to your callsign, he will just delete your application! PLEASE send only active and valid names.

STOP!!! RE-READ THE ABOVE!!! You really have no excuses!

The reasons for this are very simple. Our staff needs to recognize that that "Goatherder" guy posting questions on the forums is the same player "Goatherder" who e.g. likes to fly scouts in game. It is much easier to help you than if we are trying to figure out who the heck you are in the game or forum!

Signing up and sending in your ASGS account as: "Badassplayer" and the Forum account as: "Fluffy Bunny" will get your application ignored. You will NOT get a response asking you to correct it. You will NOT get a response saying your application failed. You WILL get your application deleted.

Note Slight variations are acceptable. There are thousands of names registered in our forums and game and your name request might already be taken when you create your accounts. For example, FluffyBunny in the forums and Fluffybunny_2 in-game would be acceptable.

If you are in the situation of already having different names before you found out about this course, either create a new forum account to match your game name or vice versa. THEN apply below. Make sure you activate the new account or you will not get in!

Note Application Process Additions to the AFS roster happen on a rolling basis, and you will not be notified when you are added to the course. While you wait to be added, feel free to read the course pre-reading linked at the top of this page. You will know you are part of the course when your callsign appears in the AFS Squad listing and you can access the AFS subforum in the training section of the FAO forums [1]. If you are not part of the course after a week or so, feel free to either post in the FAO forums new players thread asking why you haven't been added, or PM one of the course Admins (Notjarvis, Xeretov, or Idanmel).

Warning! No typos, please. Please, for the love of the Course Admin's sanity, realise that when you fill the form out he can not read your mind. PLEASE be accurate in spelling/typing your names. Example, you say "Wildxxx" is your forum account, but actually it's "Wild_xxx" then he has no way of knowing that. Your application will just get deleted!
