Are there any maps have a random number of sectors and alephs? - Such a map would have to always end up symmetrical, but have a random number of sectors and alephs each time you play on it.

OK, found my way there...jgbaxter wrote:QUOTE (jgbaxter @ Jan 14 2007, 12:19 PM) Mesial catch my on irc or something and I'll show you, it's not overly hard technically, most of the issue is making a decent map. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Allegiance Terror Alert Level: HIGH
No, this was discussed a while ago but I think it was shelved becuase nobody could think of a good way to code it.tontow wrote:QUOTE (tontow @ Jan 14 2007, 09:01 PM) Are there any maps have a random number of sectors and alephs? - Such a map would have to always end up symmetrical, but have a random number of sectors and alephs each time you play on it.

I can think of several good ways to code it. I'm just too lazy to actually get around to doing it. The simplest system would avoid changing Allegiance code entirely by capturing game-end messages (much as TAG does) and after a game-end event you have an outside program overwrite a map file. Creation of an interesting randomized map isn't that terribly difficult using graph theory, but even that could be short-circuited by pre-creating several maps and simply randomly selecting one each time. Bonus points for having a few such random map entries so you can select a general size as well.Raveen wrote:QUOTE (Raveen @ Jan 15 2007, 07:48 AM) No, this was discussed a while ago but I think it was shelved becuase nobody could think of a good way to code it.

I've always said that if I couldn't figure out a program, I should recode the interface. This has made me very good in figuring out how to use programs. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />_SRM_Mesial wrote:QUOTE (_SRM_Mesial @ Jan 21 2007, 02:12 PM) I've always said that if I could not figure out a program, I shouldn't be using it...
