IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. It's a program that you can run in the background to chat to other people. You connect to servers, and from there choose what chat room (called "channels") you want to join in on.

There are several Allegiance-related channels on the Quakenet servers.

  • #FreeAllegiance, the official FAO channel, led by ImmZ
  • #RollingThunder, by far the most active and populated squad channel (webapplet)
  • #SteelFury
  • #SlipshodRM
  • #GermanBorg (webapplet)
  • #PalidorsKnights
  • #alleg-wildcards (webapplet)
  • #RomanLegion (webapplet)

Installation

To access IRC channels you need an IRC client like mIRC; Firefox has the ChatZilla browser extension; Opera features a built-in IRC client.

Once you've got that running you can connect to Quakenet. Then type /join #channel name

You can also use general purpose IRC applets like this to connect to other rooms (or servers, even).
