Moving

Playing the training missions will familiarize you with flight basics in Allegiance. They can be accessed from the main menu, at the bottom left of the screen.

Text chats

The chat log is located at the top centre of the screen. By default it shows the latest six lines of chat, and you can press Page Up and Page Down to scroll older messages. Messages are coloured according to the sender's team - white coloured messages are from players Not On A Team ("NOAT" for short), blue coloured messages come from players on the blue team, etc. Messages with bold text are sent by a team commander.

You can only see messages that include you as a recepient - for instance you can only see enemy chat if they are broadcasting to "All". The recepient's name is included in brackets after the senders name. For instance: "Commander (Team 1): OK team, listen up."

Most messages are sent with a "Ping" sound. Team commander messages have more of a "Bah-doop" sound, and messages sent to just you have a "bee-dah-boop" sound. If you here that private message sound it is a good signal to check the chat carefully for your name. For instance: Player (Your name): Come with me.

To send text messages you press Enter (by default) and a two boxes will appear in the centre of your HUD. The first box shows who you're sending a message to, and will normally be the last person you sent a message to. To change your target press Tab. It will cycle through:

  • Your team
  • Allied teams (if available)
  • All
  • Your wing
  • Your current sector
  • Ship (if available)
  • Back to your team

Be careful who you send information to - you don't want to accidentaly broadcast tactical information to "All"!

Voicechats

Voice chats are short, pre-recorded messages that you can send instead of typing. A copy is also sent to the chat log automatically. Several Voicechats also send default orders (see "Follow orders" section), such as "Form on my wing" which sends an order to all friendly pilots to fly to you.

You can access Voicechats by pressing the ~ key (by default), which is located near the Tab key on your keyboard. That brings up a pop-up menu which you can navigate by hitting the keyboard shortcuts.

Note: Please don't spam Voicechats in public games, as it annoys other players and clutters up the chat log.
