Week Two End

Congratulations on making it to the end of week two. The end is in sight!

Key points of this week:

  • Getting podded is no fun and is a handicap for your team - picking up all friendly pods is an important task!
  • Sometimes it is better to retreat than to get podded.
  • The scout is a very versatile and very important ship. You should know how to use it to:
    • Nan anything and everything friendly in sight
    • Defend miners
    • Escort constructors
    • Escort bomber or HTT runs
    • Scout the map
    • Probe the map
    • Keep an eye on the enemy
  • How to manage your signature so the enemy don't spot you.
  • The differences between the 3 main tech paths.

Do go back and review this week's material. There is less of it than in week one and it is more important with regards to you becoming a useful member of the team - which is, after all, what Cadet I is all about.

Bet you thought we exhausted it of all information last week, but not so! Examine it again and then attempt to answer the questions below. Again, the answers are in white text - simply highlight the text to view them.

Scouting
1. Consider the sector the pilot is examining on the minimap. Can you expect to find enemy miners in that sector? Explain your answer.
Yes and No.

No: There is very little He in that sector and therefore it's not worth mining. Additionally, if there were one there the two friendly scouts would probably spot it already.

Yes: According to the minimap there is no other sectors that yellow control so, if they do mine, they'll probably have to mine L'Sau.

2. Can you expect to find enemy cons in that sector? Explain your answer.
Yes. According to the minimap, they have no other bases to launch from when they're built.
3. Consider the sector the pilot is currently in. How many friendly probes are in the sector?
4.
4. Is that enough probes? Explain your answer.
Strictly speaking no, you can never have enough probes. But for the time being your time would be better spent probing other sectors because the teleporter in Dunatis will probably spot any enemy entering the sector.
5. How many enemy probes are there?
3.

Target
6. What ship is the pilot's target?
Advanced fighter, piloted by Idanmel@RT. Stated at bottom of the screen and in the centre
7. What faction is it? (Difficult if you haven't been playing long)
Dreghklar Empire. You can recognise the ship profile in the picture at the bottom of the screen.
8. How far is it?
3204m. You can see both in the info at the bottom, and on the main screen.
9. How fast is it moving?
190mps. Info at bottom.
10. How damaged is it?
Very. Less than half hull remaining.
11. Does it have shields mounted?
No. If it did it would have a 2nd health bar on the main screen.

Technology
12. What techpath(s) does Blue team have?
Garrison (they have advanced scouts) and Supremacy (they have advanced fighters).
13. What techpath(s) does Yellow team have?
Supremacy only.
