The Fighter

Introduction

Fighters are about the most versatile ships in Allegiance. Their ability to ripcord, relatively high cruising speed and variety of armaments make them very deadly in the hands of a skilled team. Yes we said team, not single pilot.

Like all the techpaths supremacy relies on good teamwork and coordination. Although a single fighter packs the most firepower out of all the small class ships it is quite fragile - it doesn't have the excessive armour and agility of the interceptor nor the range and stealth abilities of stealth fighters. This means you need to cooperate with other pilots to achieve objectives (such as miner killing and base defence).

With the fighter's quick ripcord time you can quickly change from offensive actions to defensive. With a decent amount of teleports available a supremacy team can respond anywhere in the game faster than any other techpath. But without proper leadership this can be a sup team's downfall - trying to be everywhere and once and just becoming seperated from your group.

Fighter Strenghts
  • Variety of weapons, as long as you load your fighter correctly, you will have a ship that is capable of completing any task that it is given. You have available 3 different main weapon choices, 3 different missile choices and mine packs(similar to prox). Each weapon and missile have their advantages in different aspects of the game.
  • Shields, they recharge but not instantly, so you have to avoid taking damage for a while to allow them to recuperate. This means you can attack then when your shields drop, retreat and recharge, then come back in for some more action.
  • Ricord, after leaving base and aslong as there are teleport recievers or carriers out on the map, your ship can be there in 10 seconds. Also if you're being attacked you have the ability to teleport away from the danger and back to safety.
  • weapon range, with gatts at 600m and missiles at 1k, you keep your distance, make sure to use your missiles, and finish with gatts. Don't be boosting in like an int but play your game and make them come to you.
Fighter Weaknessess

Fighter vs.

Overall, the fighter is a general fighter and performs as such. It is outclassed by specialized fighters like the Stealth Fighter and the Interceptor, but has a broader range of abilities than either of those two ships.

vs. Fighters

The only matchup where fighters stand a decent chance, liberal use of sidethrusts and QF/Seekers are key... as is the ability to aim while constantly changing direction.

  • Load seekers, if you can use them load dumbfires.
vs. Stealth Fighters

Typically a fighter is completely screwed vs even a semi-competent SF pilot. Hunters will do major damage, and even the sniper guns will do severe damage. Your best bet is to hang around utility vehicles as a distraction. Wait for them to come to me. Hang out near my miners. They're dumb if they're trying to kill figs instead of miners. If you want, and you think they're extra dumb, chase down their missiles to get a good estimate on their location. Might stumble into them. Odds are I'd just prefer to ignore them unless an asset is at risk while we're setting their team on the defensive through probable bombing.

  • Quickfires or seekers, after being fired missles still track things that cloak.
vs. Interceptors

Liberal use of minepacks will help. I've always found quickfires lacking vs the medium armor of the Interceptor, and opt for seekers or perhaps dumbfire if Dumb 3 is available. Spamming sidethrusts is essential to throw off the aim of the mini's if the interceptor closes in with you. DF and minepacks while back pedaling can be easy if they're boosting right at you. Try to keep at range if they're focused on you. If not, determine what their target is and use that information to better land your missiles.

  • Seekers and minepacks,
vs. Scouts

If pursuing, following in a parallel line, never behind as you will get proxed. Just boost up alongside and massacre them. Kill with dumbfires from behind for optimal results, while being conscientious of the 4s prox activation delay.
