One idea I wondered, is what about a faction that has protected doors, historically castles have well had 2 gates for instance, where when you enter the first gate you have to travel around in some case quarter or halfway to make it into the actual main castle.
A faction like this would have better protection against htt runs then the GT with their base doors at their worst. They might even possibly have slightly better protection when exiting the base by having perhaps an external tunnel creating a narrower place for the enemy to camp (though mines might be more effective), while giving extra time to use boost if available to gain speed to make it out of the camp.

Alright, I have started work on the OH bases again, and this time I know how to do it correctly with Rhino 3d. Is there a recommended site for hosting or is there someone who wants the files so they can begin work on texturing? I might have the garrison done in a couple hours

I haven't read through the entire thread, but it looks to me that someone read 'In Death Ground' and 'The Shiva Option'
And a thought for the Miners/Constructors leaving the 'Guarded' base - Just have a long enough 'Straight' path before/after the door and they should be able to. AP takes you around objects, so I'm pretty sure it would work.
And anyway, why doesn't someone make an object that you could fly through, just to see how difficult it is?
