Get rid of it? Reinstall it?

When you say it's messed up, what exactly is wrong with it

I used to get like 100000 pop ups whenever IE was opened so I just turned all the security settings on really high and stopped using it.

so i'm trying to reinstall it..or install IE7 which is what i think im supposed to have with sp2 atm..i'll edit back if i figured out how to do it or not =P

Check if you have your internet explorer in offline mode and switch to online mode and also disable any proxies in the internet settings of the explorer.

Also download a copy of "Spybot search and destroy" and check your system for malware.

So I did some regedit thing this online place told me to do and uninstalled IE6 and installed IE7 but that didn't change anything..

I'm not in offline mode and if by proxy setting you mean the LAN settings under connections tab in internet options, those have always been unchecked.

EDIT ::

I have spybot S&D

as well as the avg spyware..

ran the avg one last night and the spybot one today, and deleted whatever it came up with

your being very specific with what you have been doing.....

Run spybot S&D and get adaware and run that too. Then we can work on gettin you connected....

The problem is, something is messed up on your end. The fact that you cannot connect to the game even when directly connecting to the net points to your windows. Those kind of problems are generally caused by firewalls that have been disabled and not uninstalled or by virus protection that does more than it tells you.
But you already told us, that you have no more firewall or problematic virus scanner installed. (Do you use the free version of AVG? The pay version has a firewall)

I just noticed, the windows firewall is just on. Disable it.
