It's a simple, 20 step process.
1) Decide what VC to put in
2) Argue with people about which VC to put in
3) Finalise VC to put in
4) Ask for people to record VC and submit them
5) Argue with people about which VC should be recorded
6) Take the few submissions you got and try run them through a sound program to make the volumes standard and add 'radio noise'
7) Realise you don't have a clue how to add 'radio noise' and decide to skip it
8) Post up some VC you have recorded
9) Argue with people about why they should be put in
10) Finish some more and put them up
11) Get no more feedback
12) Finish the VC and do all the coding so that instead of installing a new VCpack, they can use it as an expansion on either the default chatpack or TE's chatpack
13) Get told how that people don't want to install a new VCpack, they're quite happy with TEs thankyou
14) Get told which VC are unneccessary
15) Get told how cool it would be if 'blah blah blah' was a VC.
16) Get told that you should have added radio noise and used someone with a nice voice
17) Get told that you accidentely left some SW sounds out of a file (no idea how that happened)
18) Get told that instead of incorporating 18 lines of code into the next release of the sounddef.mdl, it's better if it just gets overwritten in the update.
19) Decide you can't be $#@!ed arguing anymore
20) Flip the bird at the alleg community
18 new VC

Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.

OK modified VCs are up!
I added noise and clicks, radio distortion etc to give the Alleg feeling.
It took some time but now that I have the filters selection and order I can batch convert as many VCs as you like /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />
Get them here!

Thank you.
+++Edit. Main post updated.
I didn't like how "Turrets, stop firing!" and "Stop ramming me" turned out after being run through the filter, so they're still the same as the originals I posted up. Anyway, thanks again.

What would you like? Less noise? No clicks? I can make it /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />juckto wrote:QUOTE (juckto @ Feb 13 2007, 06:09 AM) I didn't like how "Turrets, stop firing!" and "Stop ramming me" turned out after being run through the filter, so they're still the same as the originals I posted up.
