I NEVER use my AC at home, just a ceiling fan at night and only s few days a year. The article has a lot of inaccurate information in it and simply screws the pooch with common misconceptions.

I read enough responses here to know there probably two people who have any clue at all. Enthalpy, R factor, thermal mass, degree days, ftw.

I rarely do use my AC, only for days that are really cookin. Much nicer to have a breeze blowing through the house.

I'm living in a place without central AC for only the second time in my life. It's weird. And hot as hell this summer.

Humidity makes a huge difference too *sigh*

EDIT:
In Boston right now and a dry 95+ degree day here is much better than one in Wisconsin

By blocking the sunlight from my windows my AC costs are practically 0.

I had someone from texas who knew I was in CA hear that I said it was hot here. He sort of tried to challenge me, and asked how hot. I told him that the weather had cooled down, and it was only about 95 that week (35 for you euros)
