Game of Thrones
I loved the final episode of the first season. I still want to crucify whichever $#@!heads in the HBO organisation decided to ignore the the laws of Malta and actually wiped out an indigenous specis in their arrogance and stupidity http://io9.com/5694571/filming-of-a-game-o...protected-beach
... but even with that weighing on my environmentalist's mind I must say this is great work. The show started a bit awkwardly in places, but it gathered strength as it went along. I have to add Tywin Lannister to the list of utterly brilliant casting. The man is spot on. He's regal, arrogant, scary as hell and looks much more like a king than anybody else in the series. Exactly as he should be.
Here's hoping the 2nd season builds on the strengths of this one (and personally I also hope the environmental legistlation of Malta reams HBO good and proper).

whilst the casting is inspired generally, casting charles dance to play a role as a posh evil bastard is not exactly a difficult choice... in fact his equity card probably just says "charles dance: posh evil bastard".Adept wrote:QUOTE (Adept @ Jun 21 2011, 12:32 AM) I loved the final episode of the first season. For me the series has been OK with lots of cringe worthy moments, but also good moments.

Except the big about dorjan being jelly, that's just spidey's ego.

I also have to agree with Dorjan in that they really, really should have dyed Danerys' eyebrows as well
*and given her (and the brother) purple contact lenses as well. How difficult would that have been?

in an interview (wife was watching them) they mentioned the fact that they tried the purple eyes but it just didn't work.Adept wrote:QUOTE (Adept @ Jun 21 2011, 07:07 PM) I also have to agree with Dorjan in that they really, really should have dyed Danerys' eyebrows as well![]()

Although I enjoy fantasy and S&F and was looking forward to watch the pilot after reading all your comments in this thread, it didn't make me raise an eyebrow or anything else...
I was dead tired and it was really late (3 am in a working day) so I'll try to watch it fresher next time to recheck.
