When you've put down your first probe, put your missiles in cargo, especially if they are seekers. Shields take a long time to recharge, form most of the durability of your scout and have less sig than seekers. Fly with missiles unmounted and shields up as a general rule. You can unmount your shields in a split second when you need to hide.Elzam V. Branstein wrote:QUOTE (Elzam V. If you're probing with missiles/shields, after you drop a probe, put shield in cargo. Drop another, missiles into cargo.

A hero is not one who never falls, but one who gets up again and again, NEVER losing sight of one's dream!

That would be me... Might wanna edit the first post there. Took it seriously. "leave it at home...." I should start doubting the advice of others...
And the AFS, I applied, but the PM didnt give me much. And I figured this category fit my needs, frankly I still have a hard time navigating these forums.

Small addition to my comment above. Dumbfires have a very low sig compared to seekers. A scout's fighting power is pretty laughable anyway (aside from prox ambushes) so I tend to just carry dumbfires 95% of the time. As a bonus if you're proxing an aleph (stay 200m away facing the aleph, hit reverse thrust for a moment and drop the prox in front of your scout) an somebody who enters slowly is a sitting duck for your dumbfires. He/she can either dodge and take a lot of damage from the prox, or eat your dumbs (they are much harder to spoof with CMs than seekers).
/edit And indeed Vortrog, I would remove that huge "leave your shield at the base" public service announcement.

20 Things Worth Knowing About Beer.....I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they get up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.
Just close and delete this goddamn thread already. Not only is the original "advice" terrible but it's attracting other equally clueless people who don't know a probe from a log of @#(! but still think they need to give "advice" on how to use a scout. Just memorize everything cashto said, everything Adept said, everything I said, and then go back to the first page and marvel at Mastametz's posts. Because those four people were right. Glance over Shiz and Brood's comments, too. Everyone else really needs to shut the $#@! up.
