Disclaimer: if you don't know what mini3 or GA2 damage or heavy ints are or that they take a minimum of something like 30 mins in game to get IGNORE THIS POST

Leave your shields at base.

Actually, leave your missiles and gats at home too and just load nan, probes and or prox.

Why?

Shields last about 0.05 of a second under mini3, however Ints only have a scan range of about 350m. Your lower sig is going to save you, not your shields.

If you are ignoring the above advice late game it is only becuase you are a legend at Prox/dumbing down miners before a heavy int can vaporise you. And I think I could count these guys using one hand (PS: I am not one of them, so I always carry a nan)

I am sorry I havent perused Cadet material to check if this is part of the syllabus, but if it isnt, it should be.

In other news:
Allways load a nan, regardless of your assignment

Yes, you lose a cargo slot, but its the difference between saving a Constructor or miner if your team is in a pinch. Sure 2 more dumbfires might HELP you kill a miner faster, but not as fast as you can repair a con, especially at opening if a constructor is rerouted to your location.

Please, Allegiance depends on it.

Apologies to the vets out there to see this again, but we seem to be in retard season / people dont seem to be helping the new guys appreciate how critical this is.

Very good advice, to only be ignored in very exceptional circumstances.

Personally I like to keep my shields on when launching (in case of prox cloud or the like) & then dismount them after. I also eagerly await some sort of pp/int nerf so I can stay hidden from those wretched things for a bit longer.... :glare:

You're only off by a factor of about 20, which is pretty close by astronomical standards.

Sound advice as always. I do however always take the nan in the slot and a gat in cargo, especially when going with no shields, ramming probes to deprobe is fine with a shield but sucks without one.

there was this low sig scout nanning a constructor from the tip of its range, apparently none of the attacking ints saw it.

Please delete this thread before any new players actually read it.
This is so completely ignorant, stupid, and bad.

Another example of how the people who crunch the numbers of the game fail miserably at actually playing it.

This is what happens when you leave your shields at home -
Trying to enter an aleph towered and/or mined in any way - you die regardless of your speed.
Trying to ram a miner to facilitate its demise - you die.
Trying to delay a constructor from building while you kill it and/or stall for your teammates to come kill it - you die.
Accidentally or intentionally ram anything of virtually any kind - you die.

Leaving your shields at home is almost always a bad idea, and only sometimes is it a good idea to unload them into your cargo, but that's entirely different from LEAVING THEM AT HOME.
As it is there are far too many people who fly around without shields, or unload them at the wrong time.
But please continue to do that so I can instakill you.

I usually drop probes along the way to my destination so that I can dismount missiles and shields if i need to. no point in leaving them at home.
