Wouldn't showing the consequences of acting like an idiot discourage such behavior?
I don't see why it would hurt to have a little transparency.

Yeah, I don't really see a purpose for the banlist at all. It should be a personal banlist (ie you log in and you can see why you were banned and how much longer you are banned for), or an administrative ban list (you're an admin who can log in and view people who are currently banned, and click a button to modify the ban). There's no reason to have people who have been punished put on display..
I would like to have a public list of long-time-bans not to improve the enforcementsystem or anything like that. I really don't give a @#(! about this stuff. The list should just serve the curiosity of the community, the drama and the free-stupid-jerk-xy-campaigns.
Utterly $#@!ing sick of being human punching bags for lolz. Everything questioned, vilified, and seconded guessed by people without all the information availible to them. While many times they are paying for it in BOTH time and money... that's my guess. Surely Fuzz, my Rebel with a Cause friend that resonates with you.
I am after all MrChaos and maybe they are just to thick to "get it"

Having said that, while I'm occasionally curious, it's not a big issue.
Me too Freyja, and on the flip side by hiding the long bans it can appear to the great unwashed nobody cares to handle "situations", and/or there is an inner circle of cool we don't get to be part of....
