Move NG to TTs and HTTs? Probably an NG HTT would become needlessly* expensive, but NG TTs could be used to cap the small stuff.

*unless the driver is so bad at capping the weird doors that really needs to use NG to cap after shooting the shields down.

I think Clay has the right line of thinking. The only reason why we're discussing this is because someone thought that something we currently don't use should MAYBE be fixed. I think the game plays fine without it. We dont' hear people complaining about NG sbs not working. SBs do a fine enough job killing bases. NG would just be icing on the cake.

Even the idea of allowing NG to cap small bases - why bother? A small base can be easily destroyed by one or two SBs.

Given our current situation of one, if not two, additional factions being added to our cores, I think we just simply should cut the fat and get rid of unneccessary items. I would rather fly more factions than rarely used items given the choice.

My point, whether or not it was clear as such (I can be confusing even to myself at times), was that if we are going to keep NG sbs then they need to be useful.

You can get HC1 under garrison, can't you? And I didn't think people were talking about HC only, just allow them to mount it at all.

-make the research cheaper, or tie it directly to normal sb research.

Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.

My suggestion was to tie NG SBs to heavy bombers (or other expensive tech in order to make NGs extremely late game tech). Also, do what it takes with tweaking range, sig, mount time etc. so they can fire on an adv techbase within 10 seconds of being eyed. (Skilled pilot vs. skilled defense should still succeed 25-50% of time, provided NG isn't found earlier what with its higher base sig).

Or remove. I'm good with that too.

unless you are perking ng sbs hull by alot it wont mean anything except to belters. also i almost said exactly what juckto said before i scrolled up and read his post =)

I'd say remove NG SBs, Clay makes an excellent argument as to why.

Rethink NG in SY as part of the wider scale SY rethink that Apoch mentioned - probably for all factions, not just Belters. it makes some sort of sense for SY to be the only kill or capture techpath and also means that if another tech buys SY as a secondary tech then they get the option to kill/capture with it in addition to whatever tech they currently have.
