SF+ACE vs XT+SPQR
But that's there even without the Cort-UI. Of limited use since often I can't tell which way I should be turning.SP4WN wrote:QUOTE (SP4WN @ Apr 10 2008, 05:56 PM) If you use mouse or a joystick you can control your ship while in the opening animation. Thats what i do.

The animation sequence has already been discussed in a past mouse vs. joystick thread (previously mouse ctrl didn't work during launch animation).
It was proposed to just take it off, but doing this has a nasty side-effect. The duration of the opening sequence equals the duration of the podkilled sequence -- taking it off meant you could instantly relaunch just after getting podkilled, that being no good.

Its also part of situational awareness and knowing the game. Base exit doors always face the same direction for the same type of base with a faction. For instance, all IC outpost doors are pointing north/south. If you suspect an attack might ever come from a direction just take note of it and when you launch just turn that direction while you are still in launch animation.

I pay extra for /ninja.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ninja:" border="0" alt="ninja.gif" /> Launch. Pay $11 and you can get /ninja.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ninja:" border="0" alt="ninja.gif" /> Launch too.

That's actually really good to know. I've been using the "tap the button that's stuck" fix but as has been mentioned figuring out which button is stuck is sometimes part of the mystery.Daystorm wrote:QUOTE (Daystorm @ Apr 10 2008, 10:45 PM) This happens sometimes when you're side-thrusting or boosting into base... when you exit in a new ship, you get stuck thrusting in that direction (or even your booster gets stuck!) It used to infuriate me, as well!
The way to fix it is to hit escape a couple of times. You'll pop up the options menu, then close it. This seems to fix the stuck key problem. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

It's any button(s) you were holding down when you entered base. (most often boost or sidethrust)
