OK, so it's been a while since I did any converting of bmp's to bmp.mdl's. Here are the issues that I am encountering:
1) mdclMasterBat crashes when converting
2) mdlThing creates corrupt files (says file is not supproted) It does convert though. When I test a file that is converted by mdlThing, the file does not show in-game.
What should I be using to convert BMP's to MDL's? and where can I find it?
Thanks,
Mesial

Check this wiki page about mdlc.
You can download it from here: http://www.freeallegiance.org/forums/index...amp;#entry41680
The one that says "YP's front end for the original artwork tools (download)" is the one with the mdlcmasterbat to make it easier to convert multiple files.

huh?
you have to be in the same folder the mdlc.exe is and the bmp should be in the same folder too
mdlc.exe -convert name.bmp namebmp.mdl
it's like cake, but... it helps if those bmps are 24 bit, because if they are 32 bit or 16 bit they seem to either look like @#(! (16 bit) or don't display (32 bit) after conversions

mdlc doesn't work for me either. Crash and burn.
Do you have the lastest mdlThing? The original does create bad files, the latest is mdlThing 1.3. Also make sure the files are in the right spot. You can choose where the mdl looks for the image file under options, artwork/images, artwork/textures, artwork/textures/images...
Use png's! 32bit png's are half the size of 16bit bmp's. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />
