Need help in miner hunting
Yes I saw the rant. Found that people are not saying good things about you /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />guitarism wrote:QUOTE (guitarism @ Feb 28 2008, 11:44 PM) You and several other people got the boot that game, for another one whining about it check the rants forum...

I would suggest this: If you think there are miners in a sector, but they aren't spotted in the sector right next to your op, I'd suggest you grab a low sig scout and check it out.
If there are miners inside, you'll spot them without spooking them. Then you can start screaming in capslock for people to quit playing tiddlywinks in base and get some ints to come kill the miner(s) you found. If/When the int(s) come, you can help them finish it off. If no one is coming to help you can always try to solo one as a last resort.
If it turns out you were wrong and there were no miners, drop probes on the he-rocks, starting with the ones closest to enemy bases first. That way you can spot them if they show up later and just get your own int.
It also depends what level tech you have. If you've got mini3 hvy ints I'd be more lenient to you hunting the miners in an int. However mini1 lt/reg ints really can't kill a miner any faster than a scout, so there is no point, imo. After you spot/start attacking the miners in your scout, let the rest of the team take ints so they can catch up to you in time to help.

Well Deb - Commander´s decide if ur worth a boot or not. As i remember they had 1 Miner - and it was miles away from where u searching. (and inkl. 2 or more Defenders).
Match up with a Miner Hunter that is skilled and learn. No need to do it the hard way - and see lobby each time u fail.
Even if u had found the miner u had been a peace of dead meat.
Eying the miner with a scout is much easier to a "newbie" finding their miners.
U would have faced the fact - no miner where u searched with ur int - much faster and probably done something more usefull than doing a sightseeing tour with no scan range...

Just because nobody else has said it, that 135 HE you were looking at was the HE3 leftovers, after the miners have mined out the sector. HE3 slowly regrows on asteroids. The miners most likely wouldn't be coming back there till all the other sectors have been mined out.
I would suggest starting a solo game, clicking OFF the other team (in the lobby) turning friendly fire on and load up a scout with mostly dumbfires, and an extra ammo.
Have fun practicing killing miners in a scout all you want. And remember, even if you don't kill the miner in a real game, by attacking it you may have disrupted mining profits for the other team for a few minutes.
Booting happens. It's nothing personal. Sometimes you get caught doing something you shouldn't be. It doesn't mean you are a terrible player. You just might have been doing the wrong thing at the wrong time.
Take it as a learning experience. Guitarism as far as I have seen is happy to help people work on some skills, but get through Cadet first and get the basics covered. Also, that rant is a joke.

I think a comm should ALWAYS PM the player before boot because be booted and don't know why is not cool! /doh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="doh.gif" />champy wrote:QUOTE (champy @ Mar 1 2008, 01:11 PM) /doh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="doh.gif" />
