Hi,
I am very much upset because I was booted last night. But I am not compleining against the commander here. I just want to know about certain issues. The situation was like this- We had our op in a sector and I wanted to hunt miners one sector ahead of the op with an int. I thought that if i search near the He rocks, i can find 1-2 enemy miners. (I swear, if there is no misunderstanding, I saw some vets doing this successfully when they are sure that enemy miners are present in that sector). But my comm thought I was trying to scout in an int. However, when I said that I was searching for miners, he booted me /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> . Now my questions are-
1) Is it really impossible to hunt miners like this (no scout in that sector)?
2) If not, shall i take a scout first and go to search for miners and then take an int to hunt them? (I know scouts can also kill miners but ints are more efficient in this for me)
Thank You
Need help in miner hunting

1. No, not at all, in fact, a lot of good players and miner hunters will gladly do it in an int. Usually, however, you'd check F3 for He3 drop in a sector, then take your int to the rock and kill the miner.
2. No, using F3 to check for He3 drop is effective almost 100% of the time, and since ints are fairly fast if you use the booster well, you'll usually get to the rock when the miner is quite full.
Who was the commander? Tons of people hunt miners in ints.

ROFL.
Unless u dont know what u doing u pretty useless in an int.
Searching Rocks as miner hunter is valid strategie if (AND THAT MEANS IF) u have any clue about their ECON reasons.
Usually a map contains to much he rocks to scout them all with ints. Scan range - Fuel level - and usually no ripcord energy are reasons for not search miners in an int.
Use ur time better to probe the he rocks and be rdy to Defend or other tacs within a few moments. If a miner is discovered by one of ur porbes or another scout - kill it if u can. But plz dont scout maps with ints - or and that is prolly the reason for the boot - dont search miners when enmy team has no miner left - or in empty sectors - or 2 and more sectors away from their mining sector.

Other possible reasons for your boot are that the commander specifically asked the team (or you personally) to be doing something like:
Defending a vital sector/base against a bomb run
Nanning a bomb run on a vital sector/base
Defend miners
Probe/deprobe a crucial sector in order to assist with one of the above.
Reading the chat and assuming that the commander DOES mean YOU will solve 90% of your problems.

hunting miners when you have no idea where they are, requires more than
one person. if you see a miner on your f3 screen, go try and kill it.
an allegiance game is time critical. if you are in an int blindly searching for things
2 sectors away, you are hurting your team.
new players should take some time and sit in base.
look at the screen to see what your commander is building and where.
where your miners are mining. where and what the other team
is building. if the commander gives an order such as probing a certain sector,
you are ready to grab a scout and go.
there is no shortage of action in allegiance so don't be afraid to
sit in base and watch for a little while.
if my post is wrong i'm sure randomnumber3 will chime in and correct me.

I think you got booted because you were saying something that you're finishing the map but you were in an int so you said you were hunting miners, or that's what I got. You didn't miss much, the game was rather dull and went on for a long while, I didn't even see it to the end.
Anyway, do you need probes by the He rocks to see the level drop or having any eye at all does the trick?

The sector was not empty. The minimap (f7 and then clicking the arrow) was showing 135 he. The were no bomb runs persuaded by either team. And the sector I was searching was in the middle of their home sector and our op sector. I was very much sure that the sector will contain atleast 1-2 enemy miners. i am not sure how many miners were left. but the conversation was like this-
comm:" wtf u are doing?"
me:" searching for miners"
comm:"in an int? Deb, take a scout and search for miners (*it means there were some miners left)"
hearing that, i was coming back to the op to take a scout and said
"actually i find it difficult to kill miners in scouts"
and with my utter surprise, I found myself in the lobby (booted, dont say u lost connection /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> )
and Crono, plz forgive me, I dont want to complein at all. I want to avoid mentioning the name of the commander.

No, I was not scouting in an int. Plz, I am not a vet, but not a newbie also. I am playing here for 9-10 months and got the rank of 11. Though rank does not matter much, but having a rank of 11, I think nobody will expect me to scout the map with ints /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> . Did the comm said so after i was booted? If yes, its a big lie.Norgonq wrote:QUOTE (Norgonq @ Feb 28 2008, 09:02 PM) I think you got booted because you were saying something that you're finishing the map but you were in an int so you said you were hunting miners, or that's what I got. I was in that game, on your team at the time. Comm was already pissed off, and I think it was more a reflection of his frustration that what you did personally.
