I agree with badp actually - the announcement isn't about the poster, it's about an event, it would be better to have, say, the ASGS logo if it's about ASGS, or a picture representing the event being announced etc.

When I, for the first time ever, navigated to the main page... With a cursory glance I thought there was someone posting softcore porn on the front page...

It turned out to be Pooks avatar.

Avatars + News = Stupid, the symbol should be something either not there, or an image that is submitted to indicate what kind of news it is.
