@Merc is unnecessary.
We already have at least 1 squad that takes all of the cadets and then once they actually get good they leave to join a real squad. (If you think it's your squad, then it probably is.)
I won't name any names because I'll get banned for 3000 years for no reason.

I am unsuqdded and I like the idea.

My problem is that I am not available on most weekends when most squads are playing. I could play a squad game about once every month or two as a merc to fill out a smaller squad.

I would guess there are a few grads who don't think it is right to join a squad and then not show up for squad games.

A lot of players do not have the extra time to devote to a squad or squad matches.

That said.

The @Mercs idea is a good concept. In reality the Admin side could be a nightmare. Believe me, I admin a couple of groups and you have no idea the amount of time spent to do this.

My suggestion would be to form an actual squad. Vote upon a SL, ASL, etc. Find an individual who is willing to take those duties on. Do no expect an Admin to take them on. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Believe me, Thal has enough stuff on his hands that he does not need additional duties.

You could get the tag then. If you choose not to play the required number of full squad games for a senate seat and official recognition as a "Squad", that is your choice. But that option would be open for you.

Ok....I was thinking...instead o creating a squad of the unsquadable as someone else said..

what if players are able to check off a box in asgs or on the web site that says "I am a vet seeking a squad".

They have to be a cadet gard and/or a vet. Then squads could goto a web link and just see a list of folks that have this button checked off. This would eliminate having another tagged group.

I also dislike the @merc idea for being used in SG's, it skews the skill level of a squad if they pull in 3-4 skilled mercs to fight for their side.

Only few @GB left for a different squad.
Being, Elephanthead, Lecef, Bretwalda, BlackCougar, Lamborghini, Snack, Saikon (only 2 of them @Cadet, I think)
I might have forgotten one or two pilots. It is nothing compared to the huge of players all squad lost to inactivity. ~10 pilots in 6 years is OK. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
(I know, that Masta did not talk about GB, but I wanted to post nevertheless)

That's sort of the point - he's making stuff up again. GB probably comes closest to his "specifications", yet still doesn't fulfill them.

Unfortunately very, very true. I'd be interested in finding out what the "dropout ratio" is with established squaddies, as compared to newbies / cadets-in-training. It's definitely lower (if it weren't, the community would be about 12 people total right now), although I suspect not by much (probably a factor, but not a two digit). It's just that it hurts more with people who have been around for a while, as opposed to the "oh, just some (0) that I've been in a game with once".

You can see the Grad Wings in games? That's when it would really matter. No one in their right mind is going to go back to the forum to check and see if someone is a cadet grad before berating them for being clueless.

I like the @Merc concept, but I agree with BV. How do you implement it without creating a headache? If you go the squad route, mark my words, what you will end up with eventually is basically another squad... except this one will get pounded into the dirt 99% of time for the first couple of years.
