I think a thousand curious SA subscribers wondering here (well, not all at once!) to try out Allegiance would be neat. How well it goes depends on how accurate a picture the advertising gives of our game.
A new player is a new player. If anyone has a forum account there, give it a post.

besides, if we get 1000 new players... only 10 will stay at our current rate.

SA is a viral community, if it picks up, it PICKS up.

Expect little or a lot.

allegiance has been posted to sa about 3 times now, pa about 10 times now, etc.

we are not sufficiently idiot-friendly to suddenly pick up 1000 people from communities like this.

A bit of advertising is good, and PC pilot magazine sounds like a good place for it. Alleg may not be modern day realistic, but I'm sure that they have some serious team strat minded readers/players.

Whoever made this very nice Alleg video included it with a few other realistic flight sims:

Also, please mention that Alleg is a great game, but only for people looking to work in a team. Alleg is only "The best game you have never played" if you work decently well with others. Some people are just looking for insane chaos and blowing stuff up randomly.

i mean, it's not inherently a bad idea, we did pick up 2 or 3 consistent players last time penny arcade came to visit.

that said, i strongly disagree that we have insufficient publicity. we have a huge influx of people trying this game for the first time every day- that is not the stage that keeps the community smallish.

It took me a while to see this, but this game is not for everyone. Take my brother, a very savvy and intelligent person. 29 years old, loves internet gaming. He hated Allegiance. Said it was to complex and too many buttons and controls. So it's not for him. He might try it later if I coach him a little. There are some asshats in the community that will chase newbies away, but for the most part, people will learn to play if they want to. We are increasing in active players though. I've seen that trend sice Sept. when I started.
