Anybody on the Something Awful forums?

I just remembered about this one:

I'm not a member of the Something Awful forums, but a good friend* of mine is, and has told me that some cult games (like Dominions 3) easily get hundreads or thousands of additional gamers if somebody plugs them there (and the game itself is worth it!).

If somebody here is a member of that community, I'd like to know if there are any Allegiance threads going. If there aren't, perhaps there should be?

In addition I've been thinking about contacting the "PC Pilot" magazine. I wonder if Allegiance would be close enough to interest the aviation enthusiasts?

*Unfortunately said friend only plays strategy games, and doesn't know Allegiance

THere's no such thing as bad publicity!

Saying that I'd maybe suggest staggering your efforts as we can realistically only cope with a certain number of new players in one go (BV and the Cadet instructors can only work so hard before they explode /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> ). So a post of SA one month, a letter to a magazine the next and so on.

If you are a member Bucket, perhaps you'd like to speak up for Allegiance a bit?

Staggering the publicity is good, but I suspect it will happen anyway. I got some perspective to this when a friend of mine visited as I was playing, and wanted to see this Allegiance I've been talking about. I proudly showed him the main site, and said "There you can see who are online and playing right now", and he was utterly shocked:
"Are you saying that those thirty people are all that are playing right now, from the whole world-wide community???"

That certainly put things in perspective for me. Do you really fear we will be swamped by a sudden influx? I wish!

He play WoW? 30 people is plenty enough for a game. More isn't bad.. but I've played games with much fewer than 30.

GoonSwarm wouldnt do well here. They wouldnt be able to stack without AB.

It's sort of why it's safe to advertise on SA.

I think a thousand curious SA subscribers wondering here (well, not all at once!) to try out Allegiance would be neat. How well it goes depends on how accurate a picture the advertising gives of our game.
