My commander woes? Expecting squadies* to fly like squadies in a pick up game.

(Squadies being anyone with @Tag, not PK =P)

The one seemingly competent person on your team is ALSO warning everyone about the no-brainer bomb run about to hit. Then getting to float to the next sector over next to their pod because they were the only other person to show up to D home... and almost losing the next sector over when people had PLENTY of time to get on post! That one we eventually turned around but by the end anyone who came in would have thought the map was HiHigher, not IO!

It's the major "no brainer" things that get you down in a mixed PUG, especially when you make the same mistake as the vets on your team by assuming that a couple warnings will be enough to get things organized because at least the vets will take care of it.

Of course, they're thinking the same thing about each other so they keep doing spiffy lone-wolf stuff (miner hunting, etc. that generally newer players slack off on after the first wave) and you keep getting ready to stick it to the other team after you foil their plans and... the early bomb run rolls right over your newbies and there aren't enough reasonably experienced pilots around to stop it without them especially when everyone thought everyone ELSE had probed up the sector next to the tech.

*sigh*

Ive long given up on serious commanding, i buy silly tech and if the team uses it, great. if they dont, im still havin fun anyways.

i spend the majority of my time as comm taunting the enemy to weaken their resolve so that my team has a better chance.

does it work? hell no, but its fun =)

Spot incoming con which is going to box us in on snowflake

1) Call for attack on con
2) Buy bombers just in case
3) start asking for an attack on con and KEPT asking
4) PM bomber pilot, turrets and nan their roles telling them I'll call it
5) "call it" at one minute to bombers
6) 30 seconds until bombers
7) bombers
....

the results?

A) two people went after con... TWO *sigh*
B) over half those I PMed AND who acknowledged their assignment didn't do what I asked
C) eventually pilot launched wrong base
D) ignored my repeated requests to dock and relaunch from correct base
E) Bomber team got podded since he had but one nan but 3-4 $#@!ing ints/fighters escorting
F) I had to go pick the pods up from failed bomber run ( naturally) even though I asked two different people
G) got stacked as the game tilted
H) got taunted by a pretty inferior comm
I) got blamed for loss for not communicating enough

so ahhh yeah it sucked

Forcing the other team into a single sector, maxing out all 3 techpaths (No sy because sy wasn't on, GRRR), Destroying their last techbase that was supporting their adv fighters. And STILL not being able to get the team to swarm their home sector with IC hvy ints while they had BASIC BELTER FIGS!?!?!?!
Then eventually loosing to them rebuilding their sup in their home and tp2ing our 7 techbases.
Beat that.

EDIT:(We had mini 3 and all the GA's(hull, ship agility, damage, range, acceleration) , they had basic belt figs with dis 2)

Belts keeps Enh tech. So it would be Enh figs with gat2/mini3 and df2/3 whatever tech you had onboard their figs.

And your telling me you couldn't push a con in with adv cons and 5 or so ints and 2 nans? right

Yes. ADV con actually. Hence the AHHHHGHGAA. This had more to do with the team being incompetent than anything else. Did I mention we had every techpath completely researched at that point?

Cloak 3 Sbs with ab 3? We had em. (Although ill admit that IC sbs suck)
Awsome hvy ints with mini 3 and damage ups? We had em.
Tp 2 and hvy bombers. We had it.
They were in one sector.
Did we win?
No.
I had done all I could do, other than soloing their garrison myself.
