Its a floating carrier that you can dock/undock at, is immune to standard fire (need to bomb it baby), it can rip, and you can undock and non-capital ship from it. It also costs only twice as much as a standard carrier (Albeit you cant rip to a mobile starbase, you just dock/undock at it).

I mean, if you are playing against expansion v expansion just send it right next to the enemies expansion and undock nix assault shield bombers = instant win!

The main problem I saw in the TEK with the mobile starbases is the Low number of Hitpoints compared to a full base.

It cost less .. and it is a launching platform so it can be defended well .. the lower hitpoints are kind of off set by the flex. but I just assumed they were not used because they where found to be too vulnerable due to the hitpoint issue.

I do not know if people have tried it enough to say or not really it was an assumption of my own.. they are so slow also.. I can imagine it blocks an aleph for some time as it comes thru.. LOL! But vulnerable to a Res at that point also!

Yeah.... they cost a @#(!load more than a carrier (don't forget research cost as well as the already-have-advanced-tech-and-already-won-the-game-at-that-point-unless-it's-a-four-hour-stalemate factor)... and they are quite slow... not to mention loitering around $#@!ing alephs and 'joefoo(3) (assault expansion237)goto gookumschuck' 59 seconds into their rip... They are kinda neat though if the enemy team has 1/87th your rank...

and drones.... $#@! drones.

Miners don't yell back.

I think that AI firing could use some tweaking in general. In my WIP core, I have a 'Defense Positioner' drone that is a special rip for the Defense Devastator. I was playing a game against myself to check the tech trees, and I sent the .Defpos over to the enemy base, and it totally raped one of the enemy miners. While it was funny to watch, it was a bit ridiculous, especially since I had lowered the shoot skill from normal.

Assault bases are large rips, with enough energy to rip in 3 bombers, and recharge to rip in an additional bomber every 12 seconds. Their armor type is minor base hull, the same armor type as the hull on outposts/teles/refineries, meaning the only thing that can kill them are bombers and galvs. It takes 10% more AB missiles to kill an assault starbase as an adv techbase, and is affected by hull GAs. Lastly, they're also carriers, so you can rearm and regain hull/shields.

The only reason they aren't abused currently is that people haven't figured out how ridiculously overpowered they are.

All cores use the same AI.
