Agree with Gui
Comms can already give small amounts of money, They don't need special Mini-comms with money. Just give somebody some $ and let them sit on it. A request to buy a ship already goes to everyone that has money for it. And in R4 comms can just set "Stop donating" to the player they want to have $.
If you really want a mini-comm, problem solved.
And please no talk of "leveling up". Not everyone loves grinding like in an MMO. This game is one of the few where you can show up, and all you have is your skill. Time for learning is one thing, but pointlessly playing over and over to earn a number rather than having fun as the main goal is lame.
I'm glad there are a few games left where skill and knowledge are the only things you need. Not "leveling up" and grinding.
We need more players who try to comm
the command intercface is fine enough as it is. If you go and complicate things more, by adding in new windows, then what are you going to do? Increase the amount of things a new commander has to learn.
Example. Studies show that in dogfights, the more fighters involved, the lower kill/to death ratios go. Why? There is more to keep track off. The more you have to keep track off the less you can devote to individual tasks.
So, the less we complicate things, the easier it gets for new commanders. Why do you tihnk the old BIOS was so hard to play? You had people who you had to have stop donating, so they could partial tech. So instead of watching only you with your money, you had to watch everyone with your money (even if its only 4 or 5 people). Reminding them to buy things etc etc. Its MORE difficult.
How to explain this further... Mmmm. Get on TS one night when i'm on. Or we can take this to PM's. But in general, the idea of creating more windows for this game, more options for "on the fly" is a bad idea.

We already have this, it's your rank. I am just suggesting that if you have a high rank you should have more responsibility in the game than a newbie. I know not everyone likes it but it does work as a control system.
Gui: I'll jump on TS sometime and explain why I disagree with you and happly listen to your points. I doubt you will change my mind on Allegiance needing better commander controls. It's not like I am some untested newbie talking. I played this game hardcore from open beta until after the zone was shutdown(Both AZ and FZ). This isn't my first time back either and I have always felt this way.
Most of what I am talking about people already do in game and to create some tools in the game to help with that. I am suggesting that the command interface is NOT fine and we know it isn't otherwise you wouldn't get so frustrated with commanding. To place all the blame on the players is not fair when most of the issues can be fixed by making the flow of information from the Commander to the pilots better.
The biggest complaint I have seen over and over again is that the players don't follow orders. I can guarantee that most of that is people missing the chat and then trying to find it by pging up, and then the order changes and they missed that, etc etc. and it just cascades from there or they are doing something you asked them and aren't sure if they should continue doing it or go to the newest order.
You can't say that having a menu that shows each persons requests in relation to you (i.e. buy bomber, need miners, need pickup) is a bad thing and would create so much confusion that it would over whelm people. It would make it easier to know who is asking what and you can't 'miss' it either or say 'yes' to a command that someone spammed after the person you want to buy a bomber, then the wrong person takes it out, you have to yell them to come back in, over all 5 mins is wasted because the order accept/decline system sucks right now. That doesn't mean that I am saying it DOESN'T work, just that it could some serious work to make it better and more efficient

People dont follow orders. Natural. I just fail to see how adding more menus to tell the commander they arent following orders, is going to help. You know they arent following orders. Why do we need 3 new windows telling us this?

Gui: lol fair enough, from that perspective ya we don't need anything /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
To be fair I truly believe that people don't follow orders because they don't know what they are at that moment in time. An easy place to check would not be bad thing and I think thats where we differ right now (6-7 years ago I would have agreed with you, I haven't commed a real game in ages for the very reasons that you and others have stated).
I am thinking of what I want control wise and I would like to be able to delegate authority to people on the team, doesn't mean I want to force everyone to do the same. Don't want the window or extra controls, don't use them easy enough. I will NEVER support taking away controls or forcing people to use stuff they don't want. I am trying to not come off as 'telling' you how you should command, more looking for things that commanders would want.
I just like options and want to see alot of the information you have to look around for ingame aggreated to a nice clean menu like a commander summary page. I will leave this thread alone and take it up in the dev coding and suggestion forums.

See viper, you think i can't command, but i can command very well i know what everything means and i can usually get all the people on my team to listen and actually follow my orders. and unlike most commanders i go out and fight with the guys on my team which actually makes the team listen to you more. Yeah im new but i got the basics and alot more down, i can't wait for the cadet program so i can learn more but right now im already a succesfull commander but no one will know that unless they give me the chance to command a game.
