Warning! Cadet I is being shut down. The Training Zone is going for a pilot run for the Allegiance Flight School program in the meantime.

Mission Statement
The Cadet I course is designed to give a brand new player a basic grasp of our community and the game. It will provide you with the basic knowledge to install the game, join a game and be able to contribute to your team effectively.
It is both a game manual and basic tactic course. It will allow you to fly in game without you looking completely "clueless"!
Our goal is to make sure you start off on the right footing so you end up staying with us. The learning curve is so steep almost half the players leave before they understand the game at all.
How does it work?
The Cadet I course will have a private forum within our main community forums, www.freeallegiance.org, where you can ask questions and almost get immediate answers to the material in this course. The staff is from around the globe and you will find your questions answered pretty damn fast! This is a SELF STUDY course with no scheduled "class times".
The course will be three weeks in length. Each week you will be able to ask questions and participate in discussions on that week's topics. The "course" is an opportunity for you to ask questions, share discussions with the other cadets, and get veteran player's feedback almost instantly.
What do we expect from you?
You will not command during this course. We don't care that you "rock" at "insert-popular-RTS". Commanding is over your head at this point. You will play on the main games once you have the basics down pat. By applying to enter this program you are stating you wish to learn how the game is really played by the majority of the community. It is NOT a DM game. Repeat: This is NOT "Quake in space".
When does a new session start?
A session will be run once a month. Each session will start the First Saturday of the month. (Depending upon the course conductor's RL, sometimes a day earlier).
So what is required for you to get in?
Not much really. A willingness to learn, a desire to do a lot of reading and two very basic administrative requirements:
| First, you must have an active account on the Free Allegiance.org forums. You can create such an account here.
Second, you must have an active game account created in the ASGS system. See the material on how to create that account.
|
Important Note about those two accounts!
Those two accounts MUST use the same name or very close in nature. You can create a new forum account or use one of the three ASGS callsigns available to you. What this means is when you fill out the application form below the two names for the two different accounts must match or be easily recognizable as the same player.
| STOP!!! |
Did you pay attention to the above? When I go to permit you access into the forum and assign a @CDT tag to your nick, if those nicks are not active or valid, I just delete your application! PLEASE send only active and valid names.
Why? Very simple. So our staff can recognize that "Goatherder" posting on the forums is the same player "Goatherder" in game. It is much easier to help you than if we are trying to figure out who the heck you are in the game or forum! So signing up below and sending in your ASGS account as: Badassplayer and the Forum account as: Fluffy Bunny will get your application ignored (and really piss me off! I spend hours administering this program). You will NOT get a response asking you to correct it. I will just delete the application. Slight variations are acceptable. There are thousands of names registered in our forums and game. So your name request might already be taken when you create your accounts. For example, FluffyBunny in the forums and Fluffybunny_2 in-game would be acceptable
If you are in the situation of already having different names before you found out about this course, either create a new forum account to match your game name or vice versa. THEN apply below. Make sure you activate the account or you will not get in!
The application link below involves an automated process to make our lives easier in administering this program. This is the ONLY way applications will be accepted. You will receive an automated response to your application giving further details.
Ready to apply?
Please for the love of my sanity, when you fill the form out I can not read your mind. PLEASE be accurate in spelling/typing your names. Example, you say "Wildxxx" is your forum account, but actually it's "Wild_xxx" then I have no way of knowing that. Your application will just get deleted!
Follow the link here to apply: Cadet I Application --> NOTE: By signing up it is agreed by you that you have completed ALL of the Pre reading requirements on the previous page. If you have not done so, do it now! Because we will humiliate you in the course if you have not :-}
