Important differences:

  • A Boot is when a Commander kicks you off his team.
  • A Lobby boot is when a Game Controller kicks you off the server.
  • A ban is when the admins have blocked your account from joining the online servers. This will normally be because you broke one of either the Terms of Service or the Rules of Conduct.

Effects of a lobby boot (lobby ban)

You are ejected to the server lobby and you cannot rejoin the server until the game ends, or you change your callsign.

You may still join any other game which is being played, but as was previously mentioned, the only way to return to the game while it is still in progress, is to change your callsign. Alternatively, once the game ends, the restriction upon that callsign is lifted from that server.

Dealing with a lobby boot (lobby ban)

If your Commander lobby boots (lobby banned) you it is probably for a good reason. This reason may be as valid as "You were spamming" and no @Alleg were arounnd. Most Game Controllers warn you before they lobby boot (lobby ban) you.

Do not rejoin the game under a different callsign and start swearing at your ex-Commander. Do not make a big deal of it on the forums. Neither of these actions will help your case nor your reputation. If you truly do feel that the lobby boot (lobby ban) was malicious and your ex-Commander should be issued a ban you should PM BlackViper, the Enforcement Zone Lead.
