If your commander boots you it was probably for a good reason. This reason may be as valid as "You were about to give away the position of our main attack", or as draconian as "You weren't doing exactly as I was ordering", or as harsh as "You were doing something stupid". Most commanders are happy to explain the reason for your boot after the game has ended, although perhaps not politely.

The message that no one wants to see

Important differences:

  • A Boot is when a commander kicks you off his team.
  • A Lobby boot is when a Game Controller kicks you off the server.
  • A ban is when the admins have blocked your account from joining the online servers. This will normally be because you broke one of the Terms of Service or the Rules of Conduct.

Effects of a Boot

You are ejected to the server lobby and you cannot rejoin the server until either the game ends, or you change your callsign.

You may still join any other game which is being played, or create your own.

Dealing with a Boot

If your commander boots you it was probably for a good reason. This reason may be as valid as "You were about to give away the position of our main attack", or as draconian as "You weren't doing exactly as I was ordering", or as harsh as "You were doing something stupid". Most commanders are happy to explain the reason for your boot after the game has ended, although perhaps not politely.

If you rejoin the game under a different callsign, do not start abusing your ex-commander. Do not make a big deal of it on the forums. Neither of these actions will help your case, nor your reputation. If you truly do feel that the boot was malicious and your ex-commander should be issued a ban you should PM BlackViper (if you cannot PM email this address), the Enforcement Zone Lead.

Revealing any strategic information about the team you've been booted from to the other team is absolutely not allowed, and will result in a ban.

The Rules of booting

  • You may not boot players that have a newbie tag, (4) or less, - except in rare circumstances that are detailed here.
  • You may not engage in retaliatory booting.
  • You may not boot rampage.
  • You may not boot resign.
  • You may not join a game in progress for the sole purpose of mutinying the commander and booting him.
