Setup: Use in-game footage and explain why I am probing various places.
Narrator: <insert introduction here>. Probes are mainly effective for spotting enemy bombers, constructors, miners and boosting fighter and interceptor wings.
Part 1: EWS Probe distance
Probes are essential for keeping watch on the enemy. EWS Probe 1 has a scan range of 500 meters and a signature of 30%. Enemy scouts and bases have a scan range of 2400 meters and will spot EWS probes 720 meters away. Probes spotted by the enemy will be destroyed, so you should place probes 800 to 900 from objects of interest. Place probes behind and to the sides of alephs, above and below enemy bases, and near helium, carbonaceous, silicon, and uranium asteroids.
<demonstrate probing these things>
Part 2: Probing for bombers
Enemy bombers have a signature of 200%. Looking at my minimap, I see that the enemy has an outpost near my team’s <techbase>. I will probe this sector to spot incoming bombers. The fastest way to my base is through this aleph, so I will drop two probes behind and to its sides. This other aleph could used to attack my <techbase>, so I will probe it.
This sector is empty. However, one aleph leads to my team’s <techbase> and another leads to an enemy base. I will also probe the alephs in this sector to spot enemy bombers.
<probe>
Part 3: Probing for constructors
Constructors always launch from the oldest base on the map. In this case, enemy constructors will launch from the enemy garrison.
need stuff about where to probe for cons, how far to drop probes from which alephs/bases, etc
Part 4: Probing for miner D.
Currently, my team is mining <this sector>. Probes are essential to spotting enemy fighters or interceptors coming to attack my team’s miners and giving my team time to react.
The easiest ways for the enemy to get to my mining sector is through <these sectors> <point out sectors on minimap>
I will probe the alephs connecting which connect these sectors to my mining sector, and probe the alephs connecting these sectors to enemy bases. These probes will detect incoming enemy miner offence, and give my team enough warning to move the miners to safety.
Part 5: EWS2/3, Rescue Probes, Beacons, Sanctuaries.
If your team has a Supremacy Centre, your commander may have bought upgraded EWS probes. EWS Probe 2 has a scan range of 600 metres and a signature of 25%, and should be placed 650 to 700 metres from objects of interest. EWS 3 has a scan range of 700 metres and a signature of 20%, and should be placed 550 to 700 metres from objects of interest.
The Iron Coalition has Rescue Probes, which have a scan range of 1000 meters, a signature of 20%, and can pick up friendly eject pods. Drop these 600 meters from objects of interest, or hide them in enemy sectors where friendly eject pods can use them to get back to base quickly.
Technoflux has Beacons, which act like rescue probes but only have a scan range of 500 meters and a signature of 20%. Drop these in the same places you would drop Rescue Probes.
Belters has Santuaries. Unlike Rescue Probes and Beacons, Sanctuaries pick up both friendly and enemy eject pods. With a signature of 75% and a scan range of 500 meters, they are worse than EWS probes for spotting enemy activity. These should be well hidden behind asteroids so the enemy does not detect them.
