Hey all,
Making a separate marketing type thread since I don't want it to messy up the other threads.
I figure maybe in a bit (once we're a bit more stable) we should be looking towards content creators (streamers) to push the community. There are many content creators that focus on multiplayer heavy games, or strategy, or space, or whatever label you want to apply. Obviously the learning curve is a bit high and we could do with some specialized training sessions for them so they don't feel stupid on stream (this will get them to not play).
So, we have Twitch, YouTube, and Mixer (Microsoft's Twitch competitor). I manage some partnered content creators (read: people you can pay to subscribe to... basically the 'big' streamers) on Mixer. The focus on quality multiplayer/co-op experiences with their communities. There is a guy on the platform that almost exclusively plays space type games. I think starting on a smaller platform would allow us to grow the userbase and also get more people interested in the game while also beginning to look towards larger/longer matches that could be streamed and/or recorded for clips/a full game package for replay/rewatching.
Obviously, this may be a bit of a foreign concept for some of you. If you have questions let me know. If you have additional thoughts, please reply! I want to make sure that when we take this step, we're putting the best foot forward that we can. I'm turning on email replies as I'm terrible at checking forums as I mostly use Discord and other messaging forms...
Content Creators and Alleg
I didn't know about Mixer... Ill check it out.
BTW Twitter has game streaming now FWIW (stock plummeting!)
Streamers to consider:
TotalBiscuit actually used to play Allegiance apparently. 2 million subs utube, 500k twitch.
Scott Manley is an older space geek on YouTube. 640k on utube.
Plays Kerbal, Elite. Very smart, probably the right audience.
ObsidianAnt 99k on utube.
The number one guy in Elite.
Shows other space games.
EnterElysium 230k on utube.
Plays strategy (I love his xcom plays), also plays kerbal.
Yes, they're all English for some reason. Except Manley who is a Scot who lives in LA.
Our own Dorjan works at wargaming inc or whatever they're called as community manager.
The nutter actually speaks Russian now. Possibly better than me!
Anyway he can maybe help us reach to Russian speaking or even Asian streamers.

I shouldl apologise for my posts being very disorganised.
I'm posting from tablet and i have a cold.
More thoughts:
Dome has the twitter account.
i could take over, he's not into twitter.
Before we make a push, the state of the game needs to improve a bit.
Right now the game leaves many newbies with a bad impression.
Primary issues to be resolved before a PR push IMO:
Resolution and CortUI bugs.
Stock graphics.
Tutorial situation.
I'm trying to find out where we stand on the first and second.
The first is bug essential big fixing.
The second can be solved by putting HD textures in by default, or by getting steam workshop / DLC online.
The third problem is something we need to research to understand better.

As an FYI... most any "major" content creator is being compensated in some form. Many of the space streamers are either being paid or incentivized via affiliate links, etc. We're going to have a tough time competing with that which is why I'm suggesting a more bottom up approach. Yes, it will take more time, but it's what indie devs do and it works pretty well.
Long Live Titty_Baby ( . )( . )
I did have a BS sig img, but apparently RIP

Of the ones I listed, only Totalbiscuit and EnterElysium are pros.
TotalBiscuit could do us a solid.
Manley does it for fun, he has a day job, software dev.
I've never seen him shill.
ObsidianAnt is also in it for fun, AFAIK he started doing videos when Elite launched.
He focuses on Elite mostly.
He doesn't shill, he has a voice pack for sale and maybe a mug.
With regards to smaller guys, I want to bring in KirK Fickert.
He makes awesome videos berating FDev for not delivering content in Allegiance.
Very very smart guy, almost certainly most of his subscribers are like me, people dissapointed with Elite, looking for new action.
