Would you please see if this happens on your machine and report back?
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Miner movement is choppy whenever it or your ship is in motion however, appears to mine steadily (rolls smoothly) when you're not in motion.
Note: I zoomed all the way in on the miner so that it fills the screen. Point your ship at the miner and hit ESC so that your ship is absolutely still, then apply back thrust and see if it stutters. It appears that any movement of your ship or the miner, whether thrust is applied or not, causes stuttering.
Allegiance Online Stuttering
It appears that any ship movement is moved in a stuttering fashion. If I sit still and watch the miner pass across my field of view, the miner is stuttering. If the miner is mining (stationary) and I then move, I stutter.
This is why I asked you to duplicate this experiment to see if it is happening to everyone, or some, or just me.

Are you on wifi? Is that a newer computer? Type? Were you zoomed all the way in when you made your observation (VERY important)?Zixzix wrote:QUOTE (Zixzix @ Aug 23 2016, 10:36 AM) I tried last night when I saw this post, and it doesn't apply for me.
Thanks for the input btw

Checked again, I made sure to change distance from the miner this time, it does stutter when I get farther than 500m from it, then at some point it stops ~1000m and then starts again. Its a slight stutter though. Sometimes it seems to stop when I am at a certain angle from it, or when our relative speeds are of certain values.
Wifi, 4yr old pc, medium range when it was new.I tested this on mach today to have a steady low ping.
Edit: Tested again, now it stutters even when Im real close to it, unzoomed. Constant.
First test (today) was with a scout.
Second with a bomber, if it makes any difference.
Funnily enough while I tested this out, I was wondering how can I have 8 miners and have no money - (I'm testing at outrageous 9, big money, 8 miners etc).It turns out that when the miners docked they didn't unload the he3 and just recycled back to the rock until they were full.THEN they docked and I got my money.

Can anyone else test and confirm this finding. A non wifi tester would be nice as well. Trying to rule that variable out...
AEM, if you see this post, can you report what the server update rate is set at? As I remember, it used to be a registry setting, dunno if it changed since then.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

What more explanation do you want? You've been given the scenario along with a video. Replicating the "bug" is easy. Give a test example that will provide you with the understanding you require and I'll perform that test and report my findings.
I'd bet the farm that these 3 bugs (Lag, Stutter, Controller behavior) are all embedded in the Dx9 build that was introduced way back when. This is easily verified by building the two different versions (available in the same project) and comparing. I even built those two exe's and posted them for anyone to compare.
I certainly hope you don't think anyone here is capable of correcting that Dx9 build at the coding level. We can point at the flaws in it, but it would require someone with real capability to wrap their head around that code.
Not being a coder, I can still see that this is a common problem in rendering engines by evidence of such similar reports at numerous sites. Stackoverflow comes to mind.
Anyhoo, I think the stuttering is the loudest bug that needs addressed and I believe that "fix" will be somehow related to the other two bugs (Lag & Controller mis-behavior), (but that is just my opinion and not to be considered as a "suggestion on how to fix it").
EDIT: just a FYI.., the Dx7 build that BT provided also exhibits this stuttering. I've seen something very similar to it when Imago turned down his server update rate which is why I asked AEM about the server settings.

I've conducted extended tests on my systems and I've yet to replicate that issue. The miner test on your video is smooth on mine systems either full screen or windowed and i'm using the current binary with ACSS. That's not local tests with personal builds and servers.
so no, "Replicating the "bug" isn't easy". far from it.
There is something missing here.
1st we have to stop assuming who the cultrip is (dx9 or whatever) and stick to facts and observation.
Furthermore, we don't know if it's a single issue or 2 or 3 separate ones : you talk about "Lag, Stutter, Controller behavior". This add to confusion ever more.
So let's go back to basic stuff:
what artwork do you use ?
do you have mods or highres stuff ?
what are the game settings (resolution, poster, environ, debris, etc) ?
the CPU & GPU of the PC ?
the OS version ?
the network type (wifi, wired) and speed ?
but more importantly: who else is experimenting this or these issues ?

Alright, I'll grant you that I am making this difficult...but not purposely.
I suspect this is wifi related so I'll need to uproot and test this system on a wired connection. I asked for such a test earlier in this thread and now you have provided that. Zix confirmed the findings that I did however, he too is on wifi.
The question now seems to be whether this phenomenon is tied to wifi users only and if it's only on the Dx9 builds.
I apologize for taking your attention away from whatever you're doing.
