I just bought a ticket to the Eskimos - Tiger Cats game in September. I'll probably be visiting Toronto in addition to Hamilton (Is there anything other than a stadium there?), so if you'd like to meet up or give me Canada advice. Please do so here. Right now I'm planning on sleeping in my van, but if anyone wants to offer up a couch, I'll gladly buy you a pizza or something. Also, am I allowed to bring my own beer into Canada?

Go Eskimos!

I'm from Detroit which means from 18 to 21 you go Canada a lot to drink. Working in the auto industry you drive quite often to Canadian auto plants.

Leave your beer at home, drink theirs which is stronger, or your favorite here is probably avaliable there. If you insist buy it at the duty free right at the border. Frankly I don't know how much can bring... like bringing coal to Newcastle ;)

Bring an enhanced license or a passport you'll need it now. Stupid old Osama

If you cross during the day do it at the Bluewater bridge rather than the Ambassador bridge or the tunnel which is the busiest border crossing in the Americas. Cross here in the Detroit area the stories are mostly bull@#(!.

I can't emphasis this enough. Do NOT speed in Canada on the drive to Toronto, I'm convinced they fund their armed forces on ticketing US drivers numbed into a coma during the most boring three hour drive on the planet.

Toronto is a wonderful place plan on bringing an extra pair of socks cause the first pair will be charmed right off your feet. If this matters to you the bars feature completely nude people and you can find rented companionship which is pseudo legal. Yes men and women.

Not sure about Hamilton but if it is like Windsor it is a working class rather than a tourist class place.

Hope that helped

This is a weird stereotype because US beer is as strong as everyone else's. Molson Canadian is 5% abv... 4% when sold in Ireland. Budweiser is a fraction of that at 5%. Specifically, the fraction 1/1.

This myth arose because America *used* to report "alcohol by mass" which, thanks to the density of alcohol being .79 g/ml, meant that people thought American beers only had 80% of the alcohol of other beers. And all of that ignores craft beers. Take Terran's favorite beer, La Fin du Monde. This fine beer has an ABV of 9% and is weaker than *my* favorite, Curieux. One is brewed in Canadia and the other in the good 'ol US of A.

Why do I care so much? Because I have Belgian blood in me. A lot of it. And I was born and raised in the USA. I love beer and beer is in my blood. (On Fridays, my blood is *mostly* beer.) So enjoy my friends, and know that American beer is, on the whole, better than other's.

(BTW, the top two selling beers in Canada are American)

It appears that my not needing to go to Canada to drink has left me behind the times.

As a Belgian American you should know that Bud is not an American any more but a Belgian. Owned by inBev

Pop Quiz: This Czech Style beer is brewed by inBev, and is commonly considered a Pilsner.

Answer: Stella & Bud.

TL/DR: Stella *IS* Bud, get over yourselves hipsters ;)

(Though strictly speaking Bud is still almost exclusively brewed in the US)

One of the blessing of Europe is the many "beer" nations, UK, Belgium and Germany to name a few.

With over 400 beer brands a (former) Belgian might know a thing or 2 about it :D

I love my Belgians and make it a point to try something new every time.

I think next time I head down to Bevmo though I'm going to see if I can get something from the Netherlands, I've heard good things about it.

(I think UK beer is generally swill... but then again I think that somewhere along the lines Anglo-Saxons evolved their taste buds right out of the gene pool)
