TL;DR: I created a skype group. Skype doesn't allow public groups any more, so message Removed due to spam for an invite. Everyone is welcome. Come talk Allegiance with the community.
Hello All,
Well it's been about 6 years since I last checked it, and I can't tell you how happy I am to see that Allegiance is still around. I quite literally started out as a boy in this game and am now getting married. I was never a known member, but I do have many fond memories (and some less fond) of Allegiance.
I'm active in a number of other gaming communities at this point, and one common theme is the presence of a Skype group. A chat group that is easily accessible to the gaming audience has been very effective in bringing people together to play, so I thought Allegiance may benefit from it. Anything would go; from general Allegiance chat to people looking to get a game going.
I've created an Allegiance Skype group and hope anyone and everyone will join. The more the better.
"Why bother with a chat group when we have the forums?". This is a perfectly reasonable question.
Forums are great for putting information online so that a large group can access it when it is convenient for them. A chat is great for contacting people quickly and having a quick chat about our common interest that is separate from an internet browser. I'm hoping the chatroom will assist in keeping people interested long term. I know I am beyond guilty of coming and going.
So, if you all would like to give an ongoing chat room a chance, I'll be keeping it open indefinitely. Just message or add Removed due to spam on Skype for an invite.
Looking forward to remembering how to play!

so...
We can get on skype, ask for an invite, get into a chat, chat about the game or organize a game to be played at which time we'll have to then logon to allegiance, join a server, start chatting about a game.........OR,
you can just logon to allegiance in the first place and do all of the above without all the extra effort... I think you're taking the long way around the barn here son.
P.S. You'd better uninstall this game before you get married. You can't have both.

Skype is often used as a text based chat room with the option of calling the whole group or breaking off into smaller calls for a short duration. The text is what it is most often used for, as opposed to a voice based chat room. Skype is often used outside of gameplay as well as during gameplay whereas Mumble and TS are often used only when people are looking to play.
Skype has become a more accessible IRC channel. Basically, it is convenient, fairly ubiquitous, easy to use, and likely to be popular among new players.
The idea isn't to use Skype as a replacement for in-game communication or matchmaking. The idea is to open up a chat room for new and old player retention. Being a part of an active, subject based chat room should help with that. The chat would be centered around Allegiance, but of course not exclusive to it. It's just another way of trying to reach out and retain players. However, it of course will only work if people join

I liked the idea, and wasp got it totally wrong.
Skype wont be our main gaming channel, but rather a place to chill and talk about game while at work, school, etc. You can even use it to schedule a match with your friends at a certain time/date that is more convenient for your group.
