I got a new laptop and Alleg will start and run just fine, but it will not scale to the sides of the monitor, whether ingame or not. I've tried adjusting resolution in and out of game, tried adjusting the registry according to the wiki, and downloaded the latest drivers from Intel and thru the device manager. Ideas?

Lobby and loadout screen are fixed to 800x600 resolution, there will be always "black bars" at the sides of your screen, except you enable stretching within you display drivers...

Alleg was written while 4:3 screens were common, today the screens are 16:9/16:10.
Custom resolutions above 800x600 only work within cockpit / sector view screen.
Someone with similar problem:

I hope I could help you.

The Escapist (Justin Emerson) @ Dec 21 2010, 02:33 PM:
The history of open-source Allegiance is paved with the bodies of dead code branches, forum flame wars, and personal vendettas. But a community remains because people still love the game.
The solution is to fix the scaling technique used in your display control center.
I found that by changing the windows desktop resolution to the resolution you wish to use in Allegiance will "activate" that resolution mode and provide proper scaling (stretching) when you use that resolution again after changing your desktop resolution back to it's native mode.
Most graphic drives allow you to select who does the scaling. (1)The graphics driver or (2)The display monitor or (3)No Scaling.
Set your scaling to be handled by the monitor.
I've also found that by creating a custom resolution in the dimentions you want even if those resolutions already exist in your display cards options, somehow by creating the custom resolution makes it work. Dunno why, that however was mostely an nvidia issue. I think your problem will be solved by just changing your scaling technique used in your Intel Graphics Control System. Intel Graphics FAQ
