I am looking for an easy to use and inexpensive CAD program mainly for piping system layout.
Thanks for any input you can provide.

I don´t use CAD programs, but I heard Google SketchUp is a good option. I think it has a free version, but really don´t know how nerfed it is...

AutoCAD is industry standard but expensive and hard to get into (once you're used to it you'll fly, but it's a steep learning curve). I've also heard good things about SketchUp but never used it myself.

sketchup is easy to get the old noggin' around. at a price that appeals to the wallet.

plus there is a bucket load of examples to knock about with.

i found AutoCAD fairly simple to learn, especially for the basic functions needed for a piping system layout. i think another commercially standard (and simpler) program that is often used for infrastructure design is MicroStation, i never learned how to use this one but some of the drafters i worked with preferred to use this over AutoCAD.

Try Draftsight just for lulz. :)
No piping plugins though.

I've had great success with SimHouse
I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

My apologies.

CAD is - generally spoken - gay.

Do what any engineer uses for any problem: MS-Excel.
I have a johnson photo in my profile since 2010.

And enough CPU power to recalc the sheet. :notworthy:

I don't suppose Blender could be of any use, could it? That one is free, and pretty functional
