Working on a proposal to the ZLs regarding SEO, Website traffic, and related activities. About 1/2 to 3/4 done the proposal and trying to include all relevant conversation from these forums. Two people have been approached to be on the initial working group, but I am still looking for a couple more. A background in this field is a must.

Edit:
PM me related thread links if you think of any.....

Split this into a new topic, re-name it as you see fit and good luck :)

I enjoy numbers and know stats but am a bit busy with regard to Allegiance. If your proposal pans out I'll be happy to be a worker bee for you, with the understanding being I can't donate 10 hours a week to the effort. If this isn't good enough no worries, and P-L-E-A-S-E don't feel you need to say yes.

Privateer,

I'd definitely include a non-spammy email list as part of the plan - for events and new releases. Just use the whole forum email db.

Ideas, keep em coming, keep em coming....

I haven't done anything on the proposal this last week besides research, but I should be getting more typed up in the near future.

On another project I just sat down with 8 student anaysists assigned to review and provide feedback on one year of stats from google analytics on a site that I maintain. It is always good to get more eyes looking at something to get the most ROI for future work.

Up sell, up sell, up sell

I edited it to remove needless chatter.

Some people get really uppity about ANY unsolicited e-mail.

I'm not one of them, but if this gets done, someone should make absolutely sure there is a VERY easy and INCREDIBLY CLEAR way to unsubscribe within the e-mail itself that does not involve signing in to the website, because many people have forgotten their credentials over the years.

(edit -- keep in mind that although the board says that the admins can still see your e-mail address, many people mark it private because they truly want to keep it that way and sending unsolicited mail is going to raise some eyebrows and probably generate a truly angry forum post or three.)

Actually, you get one freebie, so you can send an opt-in email asking people if they would like to receive the newsletter, and how often it would appear. Also explain that this is a one-time mailing and that if you don't do anything you won't receive any further email.

but it's generally best to send a few editions of the newsletter around to work out the kinks. Just forum post asking people to volunteer as guinea pigs for the newsletter. Gmail has a way of marking stuff as spam, so you need to register SPF records (don't really know how that works, by the way. It's just something that came up and my host provided it so I asked them to do it) and generally find a good tone/format for it. One that excludes use of caps and multiple exclamation marks and any other stuff that might trigger filters.

After you get some rythm, a decent format/ textual style and something interesting to say, you send your opt-in request via email to the forum account holders.
