"How an immoral *#$@ made big bucks by helping to start the autism-vaccination scare."
I'm not sure what's worse. The "scientist" or the press.
One press story that annyoed me recently (front page!) was "MANY PARENTS UNSURE ABOUT HOW NEW STUDENT LOAN SYSTEM WORKS" (or words to that effect). Did the story explain how it worked? No!!! What the heck was the point of that story then? Surely the press is supposed to inform us? I don't think informing us that people aren't informed about something really counts.

Put his name in Wikipedia for a quick look Elzam. If you really want to dig in, check the facts about Lancet etc.
Glad to hear you haven't fallen for the stupidity BackTrack. It boggles the mind now many people don't get their kids vaccinated "to protect them"

QUOTE (Randall Munroe)14.2: Turkey consumption rate of the average American in milligrams per minute[/quote]

Some old folks have seen the scares of a massive outbreak (like polio). Lucky the last decade saw no great outbreak that hurt millions of people in the West, people forget.
I do believe that in rare cases a young child vaccine can cause damage, but I also believe the vast majority of people benefit from it.
What is hurting the "vaccine scene" imho is the disaster with the swine-, bird-, Mexican and whatever other flue. People remember that massive stockpiles of vaccines were bought, stored and thrown away. At a huge cost. Also I doubt that every healthy person needs the yearly "general" flu shot. Seems to me there are better ways to spend that money.
The worst of the worst is the contradicting information. People get confused who to trust. In NL a few campaigns did not catch on because some people posted claims on websites, and the gov't had no answer to it. "Trust us" is not enough anymore for a Google generation.
