and in other dubious humor:

The problem with telling people a UDP joke is that you can never be sure they got it.

How many of you frequently check
http://news.ycombinator.com/
?

I'm guessing bard does because op link was on there a day or two ago, so was http://protolol.com/ which I would imagine would be the source of the UDP joke

While amusing, sony isnt the only entertainment nugget thats been attacked lately. Seems CCP, bethesda, minecraft and the escapist has been poked by some group doing DDoS attacks. No idea why though >.<

They just keep poking random games and websites at this point. The more annoying thing is that they don't have a point behind it, theyre just doing it for fun ><

Just a guess: Those are targets that the haxxorz friends and family are likely to be impacted by their attack. Thus, they get way more e-peen points from their fellow mama's basement dwelling chums.

No, they're just taking random suggestions over the phone from callers.

Apparently they're getting upwards of 15-20 calls per second at some times and as a result, they're using call forwarding on their switchboard to DDoS other people's switchboards. They hit magnets.com because the phone representative wouldn't tell them "how the $#@! magnets work" and then they switched call forwarding to WoW's support line (edit -- and the Detroit FBI office.)

They DDoS'd cia.gov just a little bit ago, again because someone suggested it.

People call them, suggest targets, and if they think it sounds like a laugh, they do it.

Also - if you have a bitcoin account? Don't use the windows client and keep the bitcoin miners in your thoughts, they're digging an SSH tunnel to them as we speak.
