Apparently Jim Cullen was the guy and he knew Harry Agganis who was a player for the Boston RedSox.

The voice is the spookiest thing!

Seems like another version of story is floating around the net where the dead guy when asked where he was going says "To the crossroads to meet my destiny"

and that Telly had sald the ghost appeared to him again at a Golf course and said "Something terrible has happened in Dallas" - around the Keneddy assassination

Who knows what to believe but I find it hard that someone like Telly Savalas would make it up.. weird!

I'd be more willing to bet that the written version is the one with inaccuracies. Even with selective video editing, I'd tend to rely more on Telly for explaining what he saw than some random person on an internet website.
