I know nothing about wiki editing bots. Does anyone know of one I could program and use on the wiki to replace all the abbreviations with full words? Just some fairly simple search and replace on a mass scale. There's no reason to use the in-game-chat abbreviations on the wiki.
Eg: Replace all bbr with bomber
Replace all SF, sf, with stealth fighter
Add tical to the end of all tac not already followed by tical
Edit bots
Have to be careful with find + replace, especially for those ambiguous abbreviations like SF (Steel Furry, Stealth Fighter) or you will get silly stuff likeLANS wrote:QUOTE (LANS @ Mar 29 2011, 07:47 PM) Replace all SF, sf, with stealth fighter

stealth fighter were crushed by SysX who after their glorious victory celebrated with a traditional post match tic-tactical.

Also things like "op", "con", and "sy" which are pretty common sets of letters in ye olde Englishe.

I wouldn't set it to switch things mid-word, I would set it only to replace if the abbreviation was surrounded by spaces on both sides.HSharp wrote:QUOTE (HSharp @ Mar 29 2011, 08:08 PM) well I would hope it was going to have been an exact match find and replace
Operate would not be changed.
Op or Ops would be changed to Outpost or Outposts.
But its not worth the trouble, as you pointed out above, there are too many abbreviations with a context-sensitive rather than absolute definition.
Already exists:raumvogel wrote:QUOTE (raumvogel @ Mar 29 2011, 11:43 PM) Make an Allegiance abbreviations page so people could reference it if they are confused?
