First, I want to apologize to the players I've had to bail on in the game when my keyboard froze and stopped working - which also prevented me from sending messages that made any sense :P

So my problem is the keyboard during gameplay. Outside of gameplay I have zero issues with the keyboard. But as soon as I launch the game and begin, I start to encounter problems a few minutes later. For example, all of a sudden I'm unable to cycle through my weapons, send messages to team players...or even move my ship! It's quite sad as this is a really fun game.

I've discovered that if I quit the game entirely and then relaunch again, then the keyboard works for a little while before I encounter the same problems.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Interesting.

Is that a wireless keyboard? Do all of the keys stop working? Does the keyboard work in other apps while Allegiance is running (i.e. you Alt-Tab to Notepad and try to type something)?

Have people recommend the doubletap of escape?

@ ogorass - I'm playing on a laptop so the keyboard is attached to everything else. Yes, all keys stop working and I have to repeatedly press or hold down the esc key to get that lower left-hand menu to pop up so I can exit the game. I have zero problems using any other program on my laptop. For example, I can immediately exit allegiance and open ms office or something and things work fine. But in the game the keyboard won't work. I've also noticed that if I continue pressing keys while in game, then some blurry white boxes pop up on my screen :o not sure what that's about

@ Psychosis - typically I have to hold down the esc key or continue pressing it 7 or 10 times to get that menu to pop up and exit the game (using point and click with mouse to do that though)

I will troubleshoot this problem on my dekstop at a later time today. My desktop uses a wireless keyboard - so I'm expecting zero problems with that. But I'd still like to find out why keyboard problems occur on the laptop.

That may be something in the background stealing the focus, i.e. popups or the task manager.

Update: I've tried using my desktop - and although I needed to add 2003 compatibility to fix the key assembly issue - the game promptly crashes before taking me to the splash screen. So, 2 computers and both are useless to play a simple ms game.

Perhaps you close them when trying to regain control. You should be able to alt+tab back into Allegiance if the focus is being stolen.

Any error message you get on the desktop? If not, please post the contents of the latest CRASH<some_number_here> file from your desktop - you'll find it in the game's root directory (default is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Allegiance).

"The Microsoft Allegiance Game has stopped working

Windows can check online for a solution to the problem....blah blah blah"

Then it lets me choose to check online or close the program. If I click to check online it shows itself to look busy for 3 seconds or so and then closes anyway
