The other night in a fighter I managed to pod a lt int and damage another one all by myself because they were dumb enough to fly right at me
(and thus really easy to hit with my dumbfires
So basically what I'm saying here is that while dumbfires are pretty handy in a fight, they are even better for utility killing and
while I realize thats not a revelation in of itself I just always thought that killing miners and cons was Tactical's thunder, but as
it turns out sup might just be more effective at it. But thats the thing, killing cons and miners was always supposed to be the draw of Tac;
it's redeeming value because its not good at base defense (unless you know how, and not many ppl seem to), not very good at miner defense, which is even worse because they are probably the most expensive techpath (ship purchases ,cloak 2-3, energy GA 1-2, hunter 2-3, util 2, and *maybe* sniper 1 and EW range GA, most of these things are critical before tac can get full swing, as opposed to Exp or Sup who have a viable defensive ships almost right away on minimal tech purchases).
So while Tac is fun, and in the hands of a good pilot a stealth fighter is a scary thing, I'm beginning to think that it just isn't... that good.
