No game goes by that I am in where people are not saying that Rixian heavy scouts are balanced and when is CC going to fix them. Long have I thought they were fine but it does seem a popular enough complaint to warrant discussion. Now my compatriot, DREAD LORD XERETOV and I discussed this a bit the other night and he had an interesting suggestion.

QUOTE Increase dispersion of mini-AC from 0.005 (half of full AC) to 0.0075 (3/4 full AC). Will soften up hvy scouts at max range a bit. Also slight nerf to front firepower of GS and vettes at same range.[/quote]

This is just one idea but I would love to hear any other comments on the subject, whether you think they are imbalanced or not!

What about the typical suggestion of the 2 front gats instead of the mini AC?

That's nice, I paid all this money to get a heavy scout and all I've got is the ability to match a TF basic scout

Joy

Seriously though just decrease mini-ac range to 600. The increased dispersion at long range would have a similar effect I think (mainly reducing the Rix scout's damage at extreme range)

So pay 40k for that eh? SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD INVESTMENT.

Also when you say "typical suggestion" what exactly do you mean?

Isn't the goal that for the 40k you get something that is a close fit to the other heavy scouts?

Rix scouts don't get missiles, they get a well perked gatling (and a tiny hitbox from head on). When a regular heavy scout gets QL missile racks and larger missile racks, the rix gatling turns into a mini AC with the same perks as the gatling had. While somewhat logical I find that over the top.

How about no mini AC, but rathe the rix heavy scout gets to use combat pods. That's much closer to the missile perk.

Rix tac has a special relationship with exp anyway, seeing as it's exp not sup that enhances rixian stealth bombers. This would build nicely on that, with a tac team getting extra oomph out of their heavy scouts. It would also get rid of the games where people get rix heavy scouts as a primary fighting tech.

Give em triple gats then. The range is the killer, not the firepower. Then you still have to aim and be in lethal range of an opponents scout/heavy scout.

I didnt check up on the cost though, didnt realise they cost so much as is....still...its a scout class ship...not a guardian class with speed

Xer's dispersion idea sounds good enough

By typical i mean that it's the one i've heard more (so it's probably the one most people have heard about). It doesn't imply it's the best (it's probably the worst, actually).

Why not make Rix scouts on par with TF? Start them with a twin gat, keep adv mounts the same, and give heavies 3?

Starbase + Tech base + adv scouts + heavy scouts and at the end of the day all you have...is a scout! Certainly it is a bit cheaper than most adv tech but not cheaper than easy, ready made counters etc etc
