Hi everybody! I'm a computer scientist and my boyfriend (Koln) show me this game. I've just played few times, but he told me that is an open source project. I am very interesting in helping to develop something, just become a dev member.

I've read some topics and what I get is that it is implemented in C++. I have some experience programming in that language and also I have some expierence creating 3D graphics.

I'm just want to know what to do, I mean which are the first steps to do and what I can do to help you :) . I'm very interesting collaborate with you :) .

Firstly - welcome to Alleg.

If you want to get the source code and look at it instructions are here.

Some notes.

Alleg. is not open source. It is Microsoft Shared Source. there is a significant difference. And the licensing conditions are a bit more complex. Although we can modify the source code - the Alleg. community will never "own" it or take parts away for other stufff etc. And theres restrictions on what we can put in too.

Our bug tracker is here. If you can find an open bug and have a look - do so - would be your passport in.

Thank you for the answers! I think first I'm going to download the code, also to install Visual Studio. I have programmed only in linux enviroment and with the kwrite editor xD. Next I'm going to the bug tracker, and then begin to do things  .

Generally you contribute to the development (write some code), then join the dev team, rather than the other way round (keeps the dev team consisting of actual developers, not just people who say they will do something and then don't)

The short description of Shared Source is:
Microsoft still oowns the allegiance source, but it is available to the public to use and modify so long as you don't make money from it. The main catch is that anything added to the source microsoft then owns - basically you can't go and import a bunch of code under say a GNU licence into allegiance (because that GNU project isn't ours to give to microsoft and the licences conflict). We can reference external liberies like we did with the freeimage.dll opensource image reading package.
